Environmentalism

At Fraîche, environmentalism and sustainability are at the forefront of our design process. With a deep connection to the world as our home, and with nature as such a prominent source of inspiration as well, we are constantly considering the environmental impact of our work.

All of our wallpapers are designed and printed here in the UK, on non-woven substrate with latex inks.

Our UK based manufacturing enables us to complete the full design process from initial concept to delivery to your door in the UK, supporting British manufacturing and minimising carbon emissions as a result of reduced delivery distances.

Our wallpapers are made of luxury non-woven substrate which are made from natural fibres from FSC approved suppliers. Any offcuts, packaging and damaged wallpaper are recycled and mixed into the lowest-grade of paper for recycling.

Our designs are all digitally printed using latex ink technology. The latex ink is water based, environmentally kind, durable and colour fast meaning the environmental impact is reduced in comparison to traditional hand printing methods without impacting the quality of your wallpaper.

The latex inks used are non-toxic and free of harmful chemicals; Cadmium, Chromium, Mercury, Lead (tested to >0.2ppm) and Formaldehyde. They are also UL ECOLOGO® certified5, conform to ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List6, and comply with toy safety requirements, as well as certified as meeting some of the world’s most comprehensive standards for low chemical emissions into indoor air, meaning the health of the printing team is not adversely affected by working with the inks.

Our printers are also proud members of the HP Planet Partners programme, the #1 printer supplies recycling program in the industry. The HP Planet Partners programme repair, reuse and recycle products in an effort to create a circular, low-carbon economy.

  • More than 4.7 billion recycled bottles have been used by HP to manufacture new ink cartridges

  • More than 875 million Original HP Ink and Toner Cartridges have been recycled.

  • 2.4 million pounds of ocean-bound plastic has been used in HP products since 2016.
